MEA publishes the non-paper for Chapters 23 and 24

The Ministry of European Affairs, with the consent of the European Commission, published the Non-paper of the European Commission on the state of play in Chapters 233 and 24, with the aim of providing quality and comprehensive information to the public regarding the process of accession of Montenegro to the EU.

By publishing this document that provides the overview of the situation in the areas of reform of the judiciary, fight against corruption, human rights, police cooperation, and fight against organised crime, the Government continues to demonstrate a transparent and proactive approach in conducting the negotiating process, and the intention to share with the public its results and intensify the dialogue concerning the current and imminent challenges and commitments in the area of the rule of law.

Deputy Prime Minister Marković meets with EU's Dirk Lange and Clive Rumbold

Deputy Prime Minister Duško Marković met earlier today with Dirk Lange, Head of the Unit for Montenegro within the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Enlargement, and Clive Rumbold, Deputy Head of Western Balkans Division at European External Action Service. The two officials were interested in the results achieved in the field of rule of law on the eve of the session of the Justice, Freedom and Security Subcommittee, and in current political situation in Montenegro.

Government adopted the report on the implementation of obligations set out in the Action Plan for gradual alignment with the EU acquis

In order to protect the material position of pension and disability insurance beneficiaries, the Government of Montenegro, at today's session, approved the Bill Amending the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance, according to which pensions will be increased by 3% ,and the lowest pensions by 20% starting on 1 July 2016. The Law was amended by the provision which stipulates that this right shall cease for temporary compensation beneficiaries on the day when they accomplish right to life annuity based on the birth of three or more children, in accordance with the Law on Social and Child Protection.
