Training for Journalists on EU accession

British Council is inviting journalists in Montenegro who report on the EU accession to apply for a five day intensive training course, which will be delivered 5-9 October 2015 in Podgorica.

This course is part of the project implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and funded by the EU Delegation, British Embassy and the MFAEI.

Role overview

Course content

This training course will cover a range of questions regarding the process of decision making in the EU, strategic communications and journalism and reporting on EU affairs. Some of these questions include:

how to separate spin from facts;

how to identify and get the best value from your sources;

how to provide balanced reporting;

universal story telling techniques;

how to write / report on the EU story – the challenges of complexity;

public relations communications, strategy, stakeholder analysis, message development, media relations;
media interview techniques.

Technical details

The course will be delivered in English but simultaneous translation will be provided. Both experienced and less experienced journalists are welcome from all media and news agencies with national, regional and local coverage. The number of places is limited (20) so the selection will be made in a way to ensure a balanced representation of the media.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided throughout the course. Candidates coming from remote areas, who are not able to arrange their own accommodation, should contact us.
