Germany expects issue of extending NATO invitation to Montenegro to be positively resolved in early December

Prime Minister Milo Đukanović met earlier today in Berlin with Foreign Minister of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

The Prime Minister thanked Germany and Minister Steinmeier for their continued support for strategic foreign policy priorities of Montenegro and informed him about the Government’s reform achievements, which are recognised in the recently published the European Commission’s Country Report, representing the best recommendation for further progress of Montenegro ahead of NATO Ministerial Meeting in December.

PM Đukanović emphasised the Government’s full commitment to continuing the reform course and achieving a balance of results in the integration process, which further affirms Montenegro as a credible partner in promoting European and Euro-Atlantic values in the region.

German Foreign Minister Steinmeier commended Montenegro’s progress within the framework of the Euro-Atlantic agenda. Germany has always supported Montenegro’s path towards EU and NATO, and it expects the issue of extending a NATO invitation to Montenegro to be positively resolved at the ministerial meeting in early December, Foreign Ministerb Steinmeier emphasised.
