Montenegro remains fully committed to the European agenda, with strong support from Poland and a shared commitment to European values, said Montenegro’s Chief Negotiator with the EU, Predrag Zenović, at a meeting with the parliamentary delegation of the Committee on European Union Affairs of the Polish Sejm (lower house of parliament).
During the talks with the delegation, led by Chairperson Agnieszka Pomaska, experiences in conducting the negotiation process were exchanged, with particular emphasis on Poland’s praise for Montenegro’s full alignment with the EU Common Foreign and Security Policy.
“Montenegro is going through one of the most intensive phases of its European transformation. It is a comprehensive reform process that requires political stability, institutional responsibility, and broad societal consensus,” Zenović stated.
The interlocutors agreed that Montenegro remains the most advanced candidate for EU membership, and that there is political will both within the country and at the EU level to successfully complete the process.
“Our goal is clear – closing the negotiation chapters based on achieved results and accelerating the path to full membership. Montenegro is ready for the final phase of negotiations, in which, in addition to the technical fulfillment of obligations, strong political support from all member states for the enlargement process and Montenegro’s European future will be crucial,” Zenović emphasized.
The meeting concluded with a joint message that the European perspective of the Western Balkans is a strategic interest of the European Union, and that Montenegro remains determined to seize this historic opportunity and become the next member state.
