The Interreg Danube Region Programme has opened its third targeted call for project proposals. The deadline for submitting project proposals is 15 December 2025 at 14:00.
This call will support projects focused on specific thematic areas, predefined within the following specific objectives:
SC 1.2: Developing skills for smart specialization, industrial transition, and entrepreneurship
SC 2.1: Promoting renewable energy
SC 2.2: Promoting climate change adaptation and transnational disaster management
SC 2.3: Sustainable, integrated, and transnational water and sediment management in the Danube basin
SC 3.1: Accessible, inclusive, and efficient labor markets
SC 3.2: Accessible and inclusive quality services in education, training, and lifelong learning
SC 4.2: Enhanced institutional capacities for territorial and macro-regional governance

This call is implemented in a single-step procedure, and applications are submitted through the Joint Electronic Monitoring System – JEMS.
Project duration is limited to 30 months, with an expected start date of 1 July 2026. Each project must include at least three partners from three different countries within the programme area, with at least one partner from an EU Member State in the programme area.
The total budget allocated for this call is €27.3 million in EU grant funds, with EU co-financing of projects up to 80% of the project budget.
The Danube Region Programme promotes economic, social, and territorial cohesion in the Danube basin through transnational cooperation projects that contribute to a more innovative, sustainable, and inclusive Danube region.
The programme area covers 14 Danube region countries: 9 EU Member States – Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany (regions of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria), Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia – as well as 5 non-EU countries – Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Moldova, and Ukraine.
