Slovak Foreign Minister Lajčak: Montenegro makes progress in all areas of EU accession process

Prime Minister Milo Đukanović hosted Wednesday Slovak Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Miroslav Lajčak during his official visit to Montenegro.

PM Đukanović commended Slovakia’s continued support for Montenegro’s EU and NATO bid, adding that he also highly appreciates Slovak support for European path of the entire region.

PM Đukanović highlighted the importance of the joint declaration of ministers of foreign affairs from the Visegrad Four and the Western Balkans on the progress made so far within the European and Euro-Atlantic accession process, as well as the initiative for the establishment of the Western Balkans Fund which will contribute to the overall progress of the region.

DPM Lajčak said that Slovakia highly appreciates Montenegro’s progress and results achieved in all the areas of the integration process. He underlined that quality is far more important than speed when it comes to the integration process, adding that the EU and NATO integration process is crucial for prosperity and stability of the entire region.

The two officials agreed to intensify economic cooperation and strengthen political dialogue at the highest level.
