The Ministry of European Affairs, with financial support from the European Union through the EU4ME project, is launching a competition for the best journalistic stories about the negotiation chapters in Montenegro’s EU accession process. The competition is part of the “28do28” campaign, which aims to raise public awareness about the importance of closing negotiation chapters and achieving full readiness for EU membership.
Eligibility:
Journalists from all Montenegrin media outlets — TV, radio, print, and online — regardless of whether they are local or national and regardless of ownership structure, are eligible to apply.
Competition topics:
Stories should cover one or more of the following negotiation chapters, using concrete examples, interviews, analysis, and storytelling that highlights the relevance and benefits of closing the chapters — both for individuals and society as a whole:
- Chapter 7 – Intellectual Property Rights (e.g. copyright protection, support for innovation and the creative industries)
- Chapter 10 – Information Society and Media (e.g. digital infrastructure development, internet safety, improved media access
- Chapter 20 – Enterprise and Industrial Policy (e.g. support for entrepreneurs, easier business registration, industrial sector growth)
- Chapter 5 – Public Procurement (e.g. implementation of e-procurement systems)
Format and submission:
- Entries can be in video, audio, or written form, and must be published in the media outlet where the author works during the competition period: from April 22 to May 22 (deadline is prolong until 6 June), 2025, by 1:00 PM.
- The published story should be submitted via email to: andjela.pantovic@mep.gov.me with the subject:
- “Application for the best story on Montenegro’s European integration”.
- TV and radio stories can be submitted via WeTransfer or as a link, online stories as a link, and print stories as a scanned and formatted article.
- The email should include the following information:
- Full name of the author
- Brief information about the media outlet
- Short explanation of the motivation behind the topic choice
Awards:
A professional jury will select the three best stories based on journalistic standards, relevance, and originality.

- Second prize: €400
- Third prize: €300
