Gorčević with Penca: After IBAR, the most demanding phase of negotiations follows

“Obtaining a positive IBAR comes after eight months of effort, hard work, and results achieved in chapters 23 and 24. The efficient work of the competent ministries and the Assembly on the drafting and adoption of strategic and legislative acts confirmed Montenegro’s determination to take advantage of the historic moment and speed up the path to membership in the EU”, said Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorčević.

Today, she met with the Minister for Federal and European Affairs of the province of Hesse, SR, Germany, Manfred Penz.

Gorčević informed Penac about the reforms implemented by the Government in the previous period, pointing out that for Montenegro, after receiving the IBAR, the most demanding phase of the negotiation process will follow, during which the chapters will be closed where the conditions have been met.

Penc welcomed the achieved results and expressed the expectation that cooperation between Montenegro and the province of Hesse will intensify in the coming period, especially in the part of establishing stronger economic ties. He pointed out that there are many good ideas and plans for concrete forms of cooperation between state institutions and the business sector of Montenegro and FR Germany.

The interlocutors agreed on the potential for strengthening cooperation in areas such as agriculture, infrastructure, tourism and the ICT sector, stressing that it is not necessary to wait for Montenegro’s entry into the EU, but that cooperation in a number of areas of mutual interest can begin immediately.
