Info Day held on the URBACT call for Action Planning Networks

An Info Day, intended for representatives of local self-governments from Montenegro, was organized with the aim of promoting the URBACT call for Action Planning Networks, which is open from March 17 to June 17.

During the opening remarks, Miloš Marković, Director General at the Directorate for European Territorial Cooperation, emphasized that URBACT is one of the key instruments of the European Union for advancing sustainable urban development.

“URBACT enables local governments to be innovative, interconnected, and focused on the needs of citizens. Through this program, cities not only exchange experiences, but also develop concrete policies and solutions that contribute to quality of life,” Marković emphasized.

Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of participation by Montenegrin municipalities in European programs in the context of the EU accession process, with the ambition for Montenegro to become a full member by 2028.

During the Info Day, participants were presented with the opportunities offered by the new call for Action Planning Networks, especially in terms of developing and implementing local strategies through international cooperation and partnerships.

It was highlighted that the previous participation of Montenegrin municipalities in URBACT networks, as well as the results achieved and funds absorbed, confirm the readiness of local communities to be active and equal partners in European initiatives.

During the Info Day, the program and the opportunities provided by the call were presented by Danijela Anđić, representative of the Ministry of European Affairs as the national authority, and Borka Lješković, National URBACT Contact Point.

The opportunities of EU projects for local self-governments were presented by Branka Mračević, representative of the project “Municipalities for the EU – Empowering Local Communities in Montenegro’s European Integration Process.”

Please note that the call for Action Planning Networks is open from March 17 to June 17, 2026. Local stakeholders, cities, municipalities, local communities, municipal companies, services, and agencies are invited to participate, in order to improve citizens’ lives through transnational exchange and learning.
