The Public Enterprise for Coastal Zone Management of Montenegro has installed three meteorological stations at the locations Plavi horizonti, Utjeha, and Pizana as part of the IPA project ClimBeach. The goal of this activity is to improve the monitoring of beach conditions and climate in the coastal area, especially in the context of beach erosion, sea-level rise, and extreme weather conditions. The collected data will be used for climate change analysis and sustainable development planning.
“The Public Enterprise for Coastal Zone Management of Montenegro continues to implement activities aimed at the preservation and sustainable management of the coastal area, with the active inclusion of scientific and technical tools for the protection of coastal resources,” they emphasize at the institution.
The weather stations, as they point out, will enable the collection of key data on weather and climate parameters, which represents an important step towards strengthening the capacity to adapt to climate change in the coastal zone.
“The collected data will be used to analyze long-term trends, assess risks, and plan for sustainable coastal development,” concludes the Coastal Zone Management.
The ClimBeach project is being implemented through the Interreg IPA Croatia-Bosnia and Herzegovina-Montenegro cross-border cooperation program, 2021-2027.
The value of the project is 1,785,195.60 euros for five project partners, of which the Public Enterprise has been approved an amount of 512,076.60 euros. The planned duration of the project is 36 months.
