The Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro and the Ministry of European Affairs, with the support of the EU projects Europe House, EU4ME, and Municipalities for the EU, are celebrating Europe Month across Montenegro with a variety of activities taking place from May 3rd to May 30th. This year’s celebration aims to bring European values closer to all citizens—through art, culture, education, games, and environmental actions—in every part of the country.
The central celebration of Europe Day will take place on May 10th in Podgorica, organized by Europe House in partnership with the Capital City. An EU Fair will be held at the University Park, where EU Member State embassies, numerous European projects, ministries, local governments, and producers will present their activities. As a gift to all citizens, a concert by the popular group Perper will be held on Independence Square on May 10th at 8 PM.
The day before, under the patronage of the EU Delegation, the symphony “Europe” by the renowned Montenegrin guitar duo Bulatović-Nikčević will have its premiere performance by a symphony orchestra at the Music Centre.
The Ministry of European Affairs, through the EU4ME project and in cooperation with local governments, is organizing an educational-sports program for children titled “European Tour – Games Without Borders” in Nikšić, Žabljak, Pljevlja, Berane, Petnjica, and Bar, from May 9th to 20th. The competition is intended for seventh and eighth-grade students of local primary schools. Through games that combine physical, mental, and educational challenges, children will learn about the European Union and its values, develop team spirit, and promote healthy lifestyles.
Ministers and government representatives will attend the events in each city, along with high-ranking officials from European institutions, ambassadors of EU Member States, and famous athletes from each host city. Citizens are invited to join the celebration, support the participants, and cheer for their favorites.
The project “Municipalities for the EU”, in cooperation with the municipalities of Andrijevica, Plav, Danilovgrad, Bijelo Polje, Plužine, Tivat, Ulcinj, Herceg Novi, Gusinje, Rožaje, Kotor, Tuzi, Šavnik, Cetinje, Budva, Mojkovac, and Kolašin, will implement a rich program including environmental actions, fairs, quizzes, art workshops, sports competitions, cultural events, and the promotion of European cultural heritage.
The celebration kicks off on May 3rd in Kolašin with the Biogradska Gora Vertical Run, and concludes on May 30th in Mojkovac with the folklore festival “Zlatni Ćemer”, symbolically wrapping up a month of celebration and European unity.
