“Let’s be prepared” – Delivery of equipment for the Protection and Rescue Services of Berane, Bijelo Polje and Petnjica

Today in Berane, the NGO FORS Montenegro delivered equipment for the protection and rescue services of Berane, Bijelo Polje and Petnjica within the project “Let’s be prepared”, funded by the European Union under the IPA Cross-border Cooperation Program Serbia – Montenegro 2014-2020, and in Montenegro co-financed by the Ministry of Public Administration, Digital Society and Media. The partner in the Republic of Serbia is the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia – Sector for Emergency Situations.

 The aim of the project is to fortify the capacity of institutions and services from Montenegro and Serbia that deal with protection and rescue to prevent fires and floods and mitigate their consequences, as well as inform the population of the cross-border area about disaster risk reduction.

During the handover to the rescue and protection services, two rubber and two metal boats with four engines and two trailers for the transport of boats were handed over for use, as well as personal protective equipment for sleepers worth 30,000.00 euros. The total value of the project “Let’s be prepared” is 422,967.60 euros, of which the contribution of the European Union is 359,480.16 euros, and the contribution of the Ministry of Public Administration, Digital Society and Media of Montenegro 39,930.84 euros. The value of the project for Montenegro is 277,210.65 euros.

On behalf of the Office for European Integration of the Government of Montenegro, Tatjana Bošković, Head of the Department for Horizontal and Strategic Issues, addressed the listeners, thanking all beneficiaries for the successful implementation of the project and underlining the significance of cooperation of all actors in the emergency sector.

On behalf of the project coordinator of the NGO FORS Montenegro, Veselin Šturanović, Executive Director, stressed that this project contributes to improving the capacity of protection and rescue services in the cross-border area of ​​Serbia and Montenegro. Darko Stojanović, Vice President of the Municipality of Berane, also addressed the participants, who, in addition to welcoming words, once again thanked the participants for their participation and welcomed such activities in the cross-border region.
