Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorčević is the recipient of the “Bridge of Europe” award, presented by the Women Political Leaders Summit (WPL). The award was presented to Gorčević by Silvana Koh Merin, President and Founder of WPL.
Besides Minister Gorčević, this prestigious award was also presented to the Vice-President of the European Parliament Eva Kopač, the Vice-President of the Parliament of Montenegro Zdenka Popović, and the Prime Minister of Montenegro Milojko Spajić.

The Women Political Leaders Summit, which brought together more than 220 MPs, ministers, mayors, founders, and directors from 65 countries around the world, is being held for the first time in the Western Balkans, with the host of this year’s three-day summit being the Parliament of Montenegro.

During the first day of the Summit, Minister Gorčević participated in the panel “Investing in Stability: A New Agenda for Global Capital.” The panel was dedicated to the role of women in shaping economic diplomacy, improving reforms, and legal certainty as conditions for investment growth.
On that occasion, Minister Gorčević stated that the stability and credibility of a country are best signaled through respect for the principles of electoral democracy, the rule of law, and sound public financial management. She stated that for political leaders, the most important thing is the consistent respect for the rule of law and the strengthening of institutions that uphold it.

“Institutional quality is an indicator of a credible investment destination. Transparent policymaking signals to investors that rules are not changed arbitrarily by the sudden will of private interests of political leaders or in favor of a narrow group, but are developed openly and applied consistently,” said Gorčević.
The Minister stated that the history of women’s leadership in politics shows how competence leads to results valued by the public, especially in the areas of investment in human capital, education, and healthcare.
