Opening of the 12th “Best of Montenegro” Fair: Domestic Products as the Strength of a European Montenegro

Domestic products as the strength of a European Montenegro – this was the message with which the 12th National Fair “Best of Montenegro” was opened, bringing together producers from all parts of the country. In an atmosphere filled with the aromas of traditional products, the Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorčević and the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, Vladimir Joković, emphasized the importance of domestic production in Montenegro’s European path.

“Montenegro is ready to close the chapter dedicated to you, our hardworking farmers. This is the result of your work, dedication, and love for what you do,” said Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorčević at the fair’s opening.

The ceremony was attended by numerous producers from across Montenegro, representatives of institutions, and partners from the agricultural sector. Minister Gorčević highlighted that Montenegro’s progress in Chapter 11 – Agriculture and Rural Development shows that Montenegrin agriculture is moving in step with European standards and values.

“Closing this chapter means more opportunities for our farmers, better roads, modernized machinery, and access to European funds. But most importantly, it shows that Montenegro has people who believe in their work and in their country,” Gorčević said.

Minister Joković emphasized that domestic agriculture is the pillar of Montenegrin society and the guardian of tradition.

“Thanks to the cooperation between the Ministry and producers, we are seeing visible results on the path of European integration. We expect to temporarily close Chapter 11 in December, which is a confirmation of your dedication and work,” Joković said.

He added that it is precisely the sense of community that keeps agriculture strong.

“Agriculture in Montenegro is challenging, but it is also our greatest strength. Let us buy domestic products and support our farmers, so that their products are competitive in the European market and EU funds are accessible to all.”

During the fair, held on 31 October and 1 November, as well as on 3 and 4 November, visitors will have the opportunity to taste and purchase authentic domestic products – from prosciutto, cheese, and honey to wine, olives, juices, and medicinal herbs. The fair brings together exhibitors from Kotor, Bar, Mojkovac, Pljevlja, Žabljak, Nikšić, Bijelo Polje, Zeta, and other regions, and traditionally represents the largest celebration of domestic production in the country.
