The premiere edition of the European Pub Quiz successfully concluded last night in Podgorica, with 39 teams competing for the title of best knowledge about the EU and its member states. The European Pub Quiz was organized by the Ministry of European Affairs and the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro, through the EU4ME and Europe House projects, in cooperation with the quiz author Zoran Miljanić.
The team “K.K. Slakaši,” consisting of Haris Divanović, Stevan Kandić, Danilo Backović, Ivan Stojanović, and Radovan Ognjenović, demonstrated the best knowledge and won a €300 voucher for electronics. The second place went to the team “EUnquisitors,” who were awarded a board game, while the third-place team “The Usual Suspects” received a cinema voucher.
“The great thing is that we all learned a lot about the European Union through play and socializing—maybe even more than we expected. It’s excellent that the EU topic was presented in a fun way, which brings us even closer to European values,” said Stevan Kandić, a member of the winning team.
The European Pub Quiz covered a variety of topics, including European culture, art, history, and sports.
“The aim of organizing the quiz was to promote the European Union and its values in a fun and dynamic way, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, allowing citizens to showcase their knowledge through interaction and games, but also to learn more about the EU,” stated the Ministry of European Affairs.
During the European Pub Quiz, 39 teams with more than 100 participants competed in seven different games. The organizers expressed their satisfaction with the turnout and the interest shown by the contestants.
“The topic of the European Union is unavoidable. However, the EU is not just about negotiations and meeting benchmarks—it represents a wide spectrum of values and diversity that make it a unique community. The great interest shown proves that a quiz like this has the potential to become a tradition,” said representatives of Europe House.
In addition to the top-ranking teams, prizes were also awarded by random selection to the teams Butler Jimmy, Euro Neuro, Plan C, and Bistrice. The European Pub Quiz demonstrated that education and entertainment can go hand in hand, making this format a promising regular feature of future activities by the Ministry of European Affairs and the EU Delegation to Montenegro.
