The Municipality of Bar has successfully completed the establishment of a modern system for detecting available parking spaces as part of the European CITYMOVE project, marking a significant step towards more efficient traffic management and improving the quality of life of citizens.
The CITYMOVE project, worth almost €1.6 million, is co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg IPA ADRION programme. The lead partner is the Municipality of Bar, which, together with partners from seven countries, is developing innovative solutions for sustainable urban mobility, with the aim of creating more efficient, safer and higher-quality urban transport for all citizens.
The new system enables drivers to receive real-time information on available parking spaces in Branka Čalovića Street and Marshal Tito Street.
Information on parking space availability is available to citizens via the Bar Parking Service website, and now also directly on site through six newly installed information LED displays.
The system covers 245 parking spaces and is based on a network of smart sensors that communicate wirelessly with central software and the newly equipped monitoring centre at the Bar Parking Service.
“The establishment of this system represents the first pilot smart parking management activity in the Municipality of Bar and an important step towards developing modern, sustainable and digitally connected transport. Timely information on available parking spaces enables more efficient use of existing parking capacities,” the Municipality of Bar said.
The Municipality of Bar also announced that a second phase of the parking system development is planned, which will include the installation of around 250 additional parking sensors. Funding for this phase will be provided from the Municipality’s budget.
