The Ministry of European Affairs will provide €149,111 in funding for the implementation of 12 projects by non-governmental organisations in the field of European integration in 2026. On this occasion, Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorčević signed today agreements with representatives of the organisations whose projects were selected through the “One Step Away from the EU” public call.
Congratulating the representatives of the organisations on successfully prepared projects, Minister Gorčević emphasised that the civil sector makes a significant contribution to the EU accession process, not only through its engagement in negotiating working groups, but also through ideas, activities and projects that contribute to promoting the process and educating citizens about European values and standards.
She stressed that informing the public about the European integration process is one of the key prerequisites for successfully implementing reforms and strengthening support for Montenegro’s membership in the European Union.
“I believe that today’s signing of the agreements represents another important step in the partnership that the Ministry of European Affairs and the Government of Montenegro are building with the non-governmental sector. Through this kind of cooperation, we can bring the European integration process closer to citizens, create space for new initiatives and jointly implement projects that will make European values and standards more visible in everyday life. I am particularly pleased that we are continuing our successful cooperation from previous years, and I believe that it will be further strengthened through new projects and joint activities,” Gorčević said.
On 8 April 2026, the Ministry of European Affairs published a public call for funding projects and programmes of non-governmental organisations in the field of European integration entitled “One Step Away from the EU”.
A total of 53 project proposals were submitted. Following an administrative and technical review and an independent evaluation, the Ministry’s Commission, in accordance with the ranking list and available funds, decided to provide financial support to 12 projects, with a total value of €149,111.
The supported projects cover a wide range of activities aimed at improving citizens’ awareness of the European integration process, strengthening capacities to make use of European Union funds, promoting European values among young people, protecting the environment, developing local communities, improving the position of persons with disabilities, strengthening the rule of law and encouraging citizens’ active participation in reform processes.
