EU Opportunities for Youth

What opportunities exist for studying abroad, how to join international volunteering programmes and how to complete an internship in one of the European countries – young people from Herceg Novi and the surrounding area had the opportunity to learn about these topics at the info day “EU Opportunities for Youth”, held at SC Igalo in Herceg Novi.

At the event, mobility and exchange programmes available to young people from Montenegro were presented. The info day was an opportunity for participants to receive concrete information, ask questions and clarify doubts about the opportunities available to them. Representatives of the Erasmus Office and the organization ADP-Zid spoke about application procedures, participants’ experiences and the opportunities that studying, volunteering or completing an internship abroad can provide.

Representatives of ADP-Zid highlighted that interest among young people in the European Solidarity Initiative programme is growing, through which participants are already engaged in volunteering activities in Poland, Slovenia and Italy.

Through the solidarity programme, young people aged 18 to 30 have the opportunity to volunteer in another organization for up to one year, with all expenses covered, which opens valuable opportunities for further personal and professional development,” said Milena Šćepanović from ADP-Zid.

The event was organized in cooperation with the Municipality of Herceg Novi, with the support of the Secretariat for Social Activities and International Cooperation.

Info days like this contribute to a better understanding among our young people of the opportunities offered by programmes for studying and volunteering in EU countries. We believe that a community can develop only with the support of capable and educated young people,” said the Vice President of the Municipality of Herceg Novi, Ivan Otović.

Informing and actively involving young people in European programmes is an important part of Montenegro’s process of approaching the European Union.

Young people in Montenegro are the future citizens of the European Union, and that is why it is important that they already make use of the opportunities offered by European programmes. Mobility, exchange and volunteering programmes enable them to gain new knowledge, international experience and contacts that can be important for their further personal and professional development. That is precisely why it is important that young people are informed about the opportunities available to them and encouraged to use them,” the Ministry of European Affairs stated.

The event “EU Opportunities for Youth” was organized within the initiative “Empowering Municipalities for European Action 2026”, which is part of the EU4ME project, and was held during the Mimoza Cup, within the programme of the Mimosa Festival.
