Kotor Municipality, with EU Support, Strengthens Cooperation Between Schools and International Partners

The Municipality of Kotor has concluded a Memorandum of Cooperation with secondary schools within the framework of the A.I. EDU SEA project, which is being implemented through the Interreg IPA South Adriatic programme, co-financed by the European Union.

The A.I. EDU SEA project is focused on developing a new approach to marine education through the use of artificial intelligence tools, virtual reality, and ocean literacy models, i.e. understanding the importance of the sea, marine biodiversity, and responsible attitudes towards the marine environment.

The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by the Mayor of Kotor, Vladimir Jokić, the Director of JU Gymnasium Kotor, Milena Nenadović Ljubenović, and the Director of JU Maritime Secondary School, Slavko Ostojić.

The Memorandum provides the basis for the involvement of secondary schools in project activities that connect education, modern technologies, artificial intelligence, and marine protection.

“Through this cooperation, students and teachers will be part of a process that brings marine science closer to the classroom in a modern, practical, and interdisciplinary way. Cooperation with schools is of particular importance for Kotor, a city whose identity, economy, culture, and daily life are deeply connected to the sea. By involving young people in topics such as marine ecosystem protection, sustainability, and new technologies, the project contributes to the development of knowledge and skills important for the future of the local community,” the Municipality of Kotor stated.

By signing the Memorandum with secondary schools, the Municipality of Kotor continues to strengthen cooperation between the education system, local government, and international partners, with the aim of making young people active participants in understanding and protecting the sea.

“In the coming period, the schools involved in the project will participate in educational and research activities, testing of digital teaching tools, school Living Lab activities, teacher training, and networking with an international network of schools developing knowledge in the fields of the sea, sustainability, and artificial intelligence,” the Municipality of Kotor added.

The A.I. EDU SEA project brings together partners from Italy, Albania, and Montenegro, with the Municipality of Kotor participating as a partner from Montenegro.
