Montenegrin partners have participated in both projects approved at the 15th meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the Interreg Euro-MED programme, held in Tirana, Albania.
Within these projects, approved under the 6th call, an amount of around 230 thousand euros has been allocated to Montenegrin partners. The Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Montenegro continues its participation in the project Carbon 4 Soil Quality Plus (C4SQ+), while the Camping Association of Montenegro joins the MAST+ project. The C4SQ+ project will focus on testing techniques for carbon capture from arable land, while the MAST+ project will test a previously developed protocol and self-assessment tool aimed at developing sustainable tourism.
The 6th call was open for study-type projects that are already being implemented and are part of the 2nd call.
In addition to the Monitoring Committee meeting, meetings of the Programming Working Group and the Western Balkans Working Group were held in Tirana on 21 and 22 April 2026, where the future of the Interreg Euro-MED programme, the possibilities for expanding the programme area, and the improvement of implementation conditions were discussed.
Additionally, conditions were approved for a new call in the field of sustainable tourism, which will be published in September 2026, in coordination between several Interreg programmes covering the territory of the Northern Mediterranean.
