The Government and the Chamber of Commerce are partners in the process of European integration

There is a readiness to further strengthening the good cooperation between the Government and the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro in the field of European integration with the aim of better fulfillment of obligations, but also preparation for opportunities that future membership will bring to the Montenegrin economy and society as a whole, it was assessed at the meeting of the chief negotiator, Zorka Kordić and the acting President of the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro, Nina Drakić.

Kordić and President of the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro, Nina Drakić concluded that there is a readiness to additionally strengthen the good cooperation between the Government and the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro in the area of European integration in order to fulfill benchmarks in better way, but also prepare for the opportunities that future membership will bring to the Montenegrin economy and society as a whole.

The interlocutors agreed that the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro, whose members have been involved in the work of the negotiating working groups since the beginning of the accession negotiations, has made a significant contribution to fulfilling European obligations, both in terms of expertise and direct contacts and inputs from the business community.

At the meeting, there were exchanged opinions regarding the possibilities and modalities for improving the existing cooperation.

The Chief Negotiator stressed that, although the rule of law is the focus of the accession negotiations, economic issues, through the application of the revised methodology, are becoming increasingly essential and becoming a crucial part of the negotiation process. She welcomed the participation of Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro members in the work of working groups for negotiations and emphasized that they can rely on the support of the Office for European Integration for the implementation of projects and activities important for EU accession.

Acting President of Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro, Nina Drakić announced that Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro is ready to help to establish a business environment through its working bodies, at the national and regional level, in accordance with European standards and values, and thus contribute to Montenegro’s path to the EU. She especially underlined the readiness of Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro to contribute to strengthening the capacity of small and medium enterprises for the use of EU funds and the preparation and implementation of quality projects.

In this regard, the interlocutors assessed that there is room for cooperation in the field of using numerous EU projects and programs available to Montenegro already now, as well as for preparing the economy, especially small and medium enterprises for the use of structural funds and opportunities for Montenegro. be available after membership.

They also exchanged opinions on the contribution that Montenegro can make to the Conference on the Future of Europe.
