Third Call of the Danube Region Programme Presented in Podgorica

The Ministry of European Affairs organized an info day in Podgorica dedicated to the Third Call of the Interreg Danube Region Programme.

Representatives of institutions and organizations interested in applying for this targeted call, which is open until 15 December 2025 at 14:00, attended the event.

Opening the event, Miloš Marković, Director General of the Directorate for European Territorial Cooperation at the Ministry of European Affairs, stated that this call represents a new opportunity to connect with partners from the other 13 participating countries of the Danube Region Programme. He added that he is proud of the continuous interest and active participation of Montenegrin institutions and organizations in this programme.

“The tangible results speak for themselves: while in the previous financial perspective Montenegrin partners participated in 15 projects through three calls, implementing activities worth €1.55 million, in the current perspective we have already achieved participation in 43 projects through only two calls, and the value of contracted funds for our partners exceeds €7 million. This undoubtedly shows that Montenegro is recognized as a reliable and desirable partner within the Danube Region,” Marković emphasized.

Basic information about the Programme and details of the current call were presented by Veselin Šćepanović, Coordinator for the Danube Region Programme at the Ministry of European Affairs, and Bojana Popadić, national contact point in Montenegro.

Specific objectives and thematic areas supported under this call were presented by Stephen Jonathan Halligan from the Joint Secretariat of the Programme in Budapest, who joined via video call.

This call is conducted in a single step, and applications are submitted through the Joint Electronic Monitoring System – JEMS.

Project duration is limited to 30 months, with expected implementation starting in June 2026. Each project must include at least three partners from three different countries in the programme area, with at least one partner from an EU Member State within the programme area.

The total budget for this call is €27.3 million in EU grant funding, and the EU co-financing rate for projects is up to 80% of the project budget.

The programme area covers 14 Danube Region countries: nine EU members – Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Germany (regions Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria), Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia – and five non-EU countries – Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Moldova, and Ukraine.
