Extended Deadline for the Call for the Best Journalistic Stories on Negotiation Chapters

The deadline for submitting applications to the call for the best journalistic stories on negotiation chapters has been extended until 6 June 2025. The call is part of the “28 to 28” campaign, implemented by the Ministry of European Affairs with the support of the European Union through the EU4ME project, with the aim of bringing citizens closer to the importance and concrete benefits of closing negotiation chapters in the process of accession to the European Union.

At the end of last year, Montenegro closed three negotiation chapters – Intellectual Property Law (Chapter 7), Information Society and Media (Chapter 10), and Entrepreneurship and Industrial Policy (Chapter 20). The closure of Chapter 5 – Public Procurement is also expected by mid-year.

“We invite journalists from Montenegrin media to contribute, through their stories, to a better understanding of these topics. The goal of the call is for the public, through professional journalism, to gain a clearer picture of how European integration affects everyday life – from digital security and copyright protection to support for entrepreneurship and more efficient public procurement,” the Ministry of European Affairs stated.

Journalists from local and national media may apply, regardless of whether they work in television, radio, print, or online media. Eligible stories are those published between 22 April and 30 May 2025. Three best stories will be awarded: first prize – €500, second prize – €400, and third prize – €300.

“Being well informed is key to understanding the process, which is why the media have a special role – to help citizens recognize the importance of European integration and what it means to be a citizen of the European Union,” the Ministry of European Affairs announced.

Detailed information about the call and the application process is available on the Ministry of European Affairs website at www.eu.me. Applications must be submitted exclusively electronically.
